By 2020, in France, 75% of positive temperature refrigerated showcases installed in food stores will have to have doors.

This is the objective set by the agreement signed in January 2012 between the Ministry of Ecology and the Federation of Trade and Distribution Companies, to reduce the energy consumption of stores by 20 to 25%.

Consequences

The closing of the refrigerated showcases results in an increase of between 2°C and 5°C in the ambient temperature of the store and therefore a faster degradation of fresh products on the showcase in terms of quality, freshness, vitamins and minerals.

Since July 29 of 2019, humanity lives on credit because it has already consumed all the natural resources that the planet has to offer. This is two months earlier than 20 years ago and a three-days decline compared to 2018. By dividing food waste by two, we could postpone this date 10 days later each year.

Let’s note that 40% of the wasted food, which could have been consumed, consists of fresh fruits and vegetables (FAO source).

The products and services we design allow as many people as possible to discover fresh products and answer to the new food consumption patterns.

ARECO adopts a positive and optimistic commitment: encouraging and educating people to eat better and enjoy healthy and good products will help to preserve the environment and reduce food waste.
